Cantine Povero has embraced the traditions of the past with the innovations of the future based on strong roots in their history, and continuing a story through family growth. All practices of production are eco-friendly and held to old practices of listening to the lands. Great care and nurturing are put into the production of each wine to create great quality at an affordable, everyday price for the people.
Located in an ideal climate for the ripening of grapes, Cantine Povero is at the center of where the Roero land, the Langhe and Monferrato meet. Warm spring breezes, humidity from the hot summers, misty air from autumn, and long snows of winter that allow for the vineyard to hibernate before production. All contribute to the design of Povero wines.
The Monferrato area (Monfrà in Piedmontese) with the rolling hills of landscape, generously creating small idyllic valleys, offers an extraordinary variety of prosperous lands: ranging from the hills of "white soils" which guarantee stronger wines, that are full of body and rich in color, to the "red earth," that is made of silt and clay, best suited for white wines.
Monferrato Dolcetto wine has an intense ruby red color. The bouquet is delicate and fruity with red berries, cherry and violet tones. The taste is full-bodied, velvety and pleasantly dry. This Italian wine is best served with fresh cheeses, pasta and/or risotto with vegetables, pasta and/or risotto with meat, white meats, pasta with tomato sauce, fresh vegetables, and chicken appetizers. Excellent during the first year following the grape harvest.
