Located in an ideal climate for the ripening of grapes, Cantine Povero is at the center of where the Roero land, the Langhe and Monferrato meet. Warm spring breezes, humidity from the hot summers, misty air from autumn, and long snows of winter that allow for the vineyard to hibernate before production. All contribute to the design of Povero wines.
The Roero (Roé in Piedmontese), conveniently located on the left bank of the Tanaro River, small vineyards scattered with "ciabot," creates an example of the sporadic peasant architecture which gives the landscape a dreamlike appearance. The sloping hills face the sun, the land is a mixture with marine sands, suited to white wines, yet presenting an underlay of mineral tones for full-bodied reds, appear at times so inaccessible that it is unimaginable man could ever work on such soils. The unique landscape with its wild "rocche" proclaims a unique and varied beauty, rare to the art of nature.
